How accurate is this axle load estimator?
It’s a planning tool, not an engineering simulation. It uses simple assumptions about how front, middle and rear zones lean on each axle. Always confirm with real measurements from a weighbridge before relying on any numbers.
Where do I find my front and rear axle limits?
Look at your registration papers or the VIN/chassis plate under the bonnet or near the door. You’ll usually see four numbers: total vehicle weight and front/rear axle limits marked as “1” and “2”.
Should I include passengers and fuel in the load zones?
You can if you want to see a “trip ready” scenario, but the tool is mainly for build and cargo. Many people use weighbridge results for base van + people, then add build and cargo here to see the extra load.
What if my van has a long rear overhang or bike rack?
Long overhangs and rear racks can put more stress on the rear axle than this simple model shows. Treat heavy rear loads cautiously and aim to keep the rear axle with plenty of margin in real weighbridge tests.
Do I still need to go to a weighbridge if I use this tool?
Yes. This tool helps you avoid obviously bad layouts, but only a real weighbridge can tell you the actual front and rear axle weights of your finished van and loaded trip setup.
